On V5 i can disable PMs of any members by going to any members profile and clicking on the staff options. I have done this with certain members ( mainly newbies), but today i found i had a PM from one i had set the PM's as disabled? Is there a fault or do have to set a date/ they are disabled until?

Confused (as well as) Stuck I think it's so they can contact you, the main admin, but they can't contact anyone else. It's possible they may be able to PM all staff, or just the main admin. I'm not too sure.

Thanks Stinky666, for your thoughts on this. I am hoping you are correct about this? Hopefully a member of staff can give a a definite answer?

Hi, ʞɔnʇS. There's an option in Settings > Forum Settings that allows you to prevent members restricted from sending PMs from sending them to staff. Look for Members Restricted from Sending PMs Can PM Staff.

I think you may be misreading the setting. Setting it to No allows them to PM you.
Members Restricted? -- No
It's asking you if they're restricted or not, and you're telling it they're not.

I'm confused as hell here. I definitely read and understand the following " Members Restricted from Sending PMs Can PM Staff - No" as saying: Member can not send PMs to staff members, if they are restricted from sending PMs. I really think you guys need to change it (the wording of the above), if "no" means they CAN send staff a PM. Edit: To add, it isn't as simple as you say, with the "member restricted: no", because it has "can pm staff", so you have it reversed.

And I kept coming to this conclusion and not yours lol. It's only Wednesday, still at least 2 - 3 days left for you.

Just curious: Is the member responding to a PM from before they were blocked?
Because the block only affects new PMs. They can still respond to old conversations, but cannot create new ones.

Hi, ʞɔnʇS. There's an option in Settings > Forum Settings that allows you to prevent members restricted from sending PMs from sending them to staff. Look for Members Restricted from Sending PMs Can PM Staff.
Ok folks i worked it out and Brian Ordonez is correct on the way it works to stop members been able to send PM's. I made a temp new account and then logged back in as Admin. I then edited the new temp members profile to prevent them sending PM's. I then logged back out as Admin and logged back in as the new temp member. I click on another members profile and seen i didn't have the option to PM them. I then logged back out of that account ( long winded this but it worked) and logged back in as Admin and then sent a test PM to the new temp member. I then logged back out of my Admin account and logged back in as the new temp member. I opened the new PM that had been sent to me and was able to reply to the Admin, but not other members.
So i like other members, i just found the wording on how to prevent members PM confusing. A bit like this explanation.

I'll make a note that we might want to alter the wording on this to make it clearer.
