In another thread there was discussion about periodic occurances of V5 Board being down, as in not reachable by a browser. as in this topicThere was a reference to a different topic that provided a reason and maybe even a solution. In the former I mentioned this and was told the latter was deleted because the problem was solved, which seemed a bit wierd, deleting vs. closing. My forum does incur long load times as well as periodic messages of not being able to connect to the pro boards server. Perhaps someone besides me is having this issue and would like the cause/cure reposted? Or perhaps it is just my system but I can't see what causes it since it happens with no other URL in my world. Thanks

Hi, mortiemcsnurd. We leave each topic up for a couple hours after the problem has ceased before removing it, as it's no longer relevant to current events. If you need to know if there was a period of downtime within the past few days you can usually ask and we'll be happy to answer.

Brian, I didn't think it was a system wide downtime issue.
About 30 minutes after this post I came back and got the wild bear message about proboard systems. Again, it is ironic that your forum server was down while mine was working.
I still don't know the root problem for my periodic and random getting a cannot connect message when going to my site. So far I know there was something posted about it, a correction made and then thread deleted.
I suppose if I am the only one with this problem now then yeah, I can understand the deletion. If not, closing would have made a little more sense, to me anyway.
Thanks

With that stated, PB admins quickly post the issue in the support board as soon as it happens, or they know about it. If there is no thread, it would suggest all forums are online, and loading well. If t happens again, notify a PB admin by asking in the support board. As far as your bear issue, it could be the internet connection. You should be able to refresh it, and continue on.

Are you still experiencing the issue even today? And what's the link to your forum?

Deletions of posts are necessary on a forum of this magnitude, imagine if we all posted at the exact same time and our subjects were identical. This happens alot and could throw out a few angry bear glitches. To me I don't see the angry bear messages as a problem and find them part and parcel of upgrading.
Imagine how much data is on here, imagine how much space it would take for the host to store all these repetitive posts.
In my opinion everyone (all members) should edit their posts upon completion to add [C] for complete into their subject headers, this way the mods know it can then be locked, moved or deleted whichever they so chose.

In my opinion everyone (all members) should edit their posts upon completion to add [C] for complete into their subject headers, this way the mods know it can then be locked, moved or deleted whichever they so chose. I can understand the amount of memory it would take if we all hit the server at the same time. I can see the possibility of all posts on this forum at same time with same subject but not the probability of such. The issue of angry bear is not always on this forum but rather people who have their own forum and by no means possibly the same subject, same time maybe so but not same subject. Past posts residing in a database could impact seek times as the database grows although I have to believe that not all member sites are stored on the same server/drive and this particular support site has to be the largest database needing scale and most likely has some of the largest available resources. My point was, and still is, if a thread is deleted links in another thread that are to that thread should be maintained as well, which of course would be an administrative and probably impossible nightmare. Admins have enough to do besides answering the same question across many threads. The link back to a deleted thread, IMHO, creates more work for the admin, not less.
