text formatting & wysiwyg

I might have missed a setting, so if anyone can point me at it, I would be more than grateful.
I have a forum with a black background & if I copy/paste text from another site it pastes as white blocks with black lettering in them.
Conversely, something posted from my forum here looks like this
YAY, HOLIDAYS!!!!

I tried the Remove Formatting option & it doesn't appear to do anything.
Are there plans for a wysiwyg editor option similar to the one vB uses?

Or am I just being a dimbulb & missing something basic?

How are you copy and pasting exactly? Can you link to a thread, so I/we can test it too?
I just copied your post from above (firefox 19), and pasted into Visual/WYSIWYG, and it pasted as it should, with no colouring etc.
I also copy and pasted from within the post reply page in the WYSIWYG, and again, it didn't add the colour.

So does it only happen on the posts where the background is black, and not the grey posts?
I've tested Firefox and Opera, and can't do it. I'm just going to test in Chrome

Ok so it doesn't give it a coloured background, but it does display all of this when I copy a simple bit of text:

[span style="line-height:15px;"]Warning!! DO NOT harass the human statue!! (w/ video)[/span][span style="margin:0px;padding:0px;border:0px;outline:0px;background-color:transparent;line-height:15px;"]

The text I copied and pasted was just
Warning!! DO NOT harass the human statue!! (w/ video)

The post boxes are actually dark grey.
It happens all the time & I need to paste to text editor & then into a post
