Is there something wrong with the system...?


Over the last couple of days I have had to change passwords several times for different forums, and this morning I have had to change my global account password? now even though you shouldn't and I'm old skool and a bit thick  I write my passwords down... but then randomly they don't seem to work? this problem has also migrated to the app also (not including the update problem that affected the app this weekend) example: getting onto my main forum, I read the other day that you don't use your email address to log in but your log in name, this is not the case on my forum, it simply won't allow me entry unless I use my email address instead of my log in name. I'm getting more annoyed as today goes, 3 times I'v have had to change my password..TODAY!... I know what you gonna say...it's me entering a wrong combination of email /username/ password... ! really all I want to know is it just me?  or are others having similar problems? Happy Easter

I've not experienced this problem myself throughout my use of V5 (I have about 14 different BetaZone/V5 forums I've never had login troubles on).

Can you confirm you're typing the correct username? It seems odd that your email would work, but your username wouldn't despite being linked to said email, which leads me to assume that you may be typing your username incorrectly.

When using the app, it won't log me on with my user name (not display name), which consists of 4 letters, and has been the same since creating the forum, (July last year) yet since we switched to V5 in Jan, it will only log me in using email address & password, as for the global account thing, I'm totally at a loss as to what's happening, it just doesn't recall passwords, or I'm using a wrong combination of passwords/usernames/emails.. I find it very confusing to be honest, I nearly punched the screen this morning when the global thing also decided I wasn't using the correct details! which is why I give up everytime and go for the new password option... it's just easier!

I'll have to get back to you on this one when our test iPhone decides not to be a butt and let me connect to things. I can't even connect to Google or anything on Safari right now for some reason.

As far as I can tell that shouldn't be an issue, because I see Vinh's login here and he uses 4 characters, so it should work regardless of the size of the username.

Okay, finally got the iPhone working again. The devs were doing evil things to it that made it not function the normal way.

I'm able to login on my own forum with the username "v" using my global account's password without any issues. Just to confirm, is the password you're entering the same one that belongs to the global account?

No, I've had to change them both, Global and forum passwords are different, and I'm pretty sure they always have been! but you could forgive me for not remembering after having to change them several times over the weekend

The forum account will always use the same password as the global account once it's linked. Only unlinked forum accounts can be assigned their own passwords, which will only ever be used once for relinking.

Have you actually tried forum username/global password as your combination?

Nope that didn't work, I logged out of my forum then tried as you said, forum user name, and global password, then forum user name and password I created yesterday... logged in ok.

Which forum are you attempting to log into?

Have you tried removing the forum from your mobile app and adding it back into the listing again?

I'm not talking about the app Brian, I'm taking about accessing via desk top, although I did mention I was having a problem with the app version too, apologies If I've steered you in the wrong direction.

Again, can you link me to the forum that you're unable to login on with your forum username, as well as specifying the username you're attempting to enter?
