Formatting Buttons in IE

I've had a complaint from a member who is unable to use the 'Font Face' and 'Font Size' buttons in the formatting bar when he's posting a thread

I've checked it myself and it only appears to be happening in IE. I've tested it using V10 and my member is using V8.

There are no problems using it in Firefox or Chrome.

I tried this on my own forum and it looks like we have an Internet Explorer bug on our hands. I'm going to have a bug report made so the devs can take a look at this one.

Also, britannia - for clarification purposes, let's make sure we're experiencing the same problem. Can you attempt to format your font in a post in IE (either the face or size, doesn't matter), click on the BBCode tab and copy the contents of that, and then paste it here? This is what I'm getting:


And of course the asfasfasfasfasf should be automatically placed between the tags - let's just make sure that's the issue you're having too.

The left image is when I create a new thread and the right one is when I reply to a post in a thread.

Hey britannia - are these screenshots of the result of attempting to format your font through the "Font Face" and "Font Size" dropdown boxes? I see only a [ p ] tag in your screenshot, which is a line break.

The problem I'm getting is when I attempt to use either of those font formatting dropdown boxes in Internet Explorer, it places the tags before my text with no text within, as opposed to enclosing my highlighted text with the tags (which would cause the font to change in the Visual editor right away). As far as I'm aware, this is a bug.

For example, I'll go to make a reply and type out some text in the BBCode tab, "Bibby boppity", and then attempt to change the font size to 3, and I'll get the following:

Which would cause no change in the Visual tab because my text is outside the tags. In my testing with Chrome and Firefox, the tags enclose the text as intended. The rest of the BBCode buttons function properly for me (bolding, italics) however, so it seems to be isolated to font formatting.

Yes, I tried to format the text in both cases using "Font Face" and "Font Size".

I see. I've had a bug report made for this so our developers will be checking it out when they can. I'll update you as information comes my way.

Hey britannia, I brought it up with our devs this morning - they're aware of this issue and applying a fix for it hopefully within the week.
