Although it isn't perfect, the new search is better than v4. But the single most annoying thing is that every time I go into Search it returns me results as Posts. So every time I have to go back, reenter my search criteria and select "Threads". It would be absolutely amazing if there was a setting where I could save that I always want my results as Threads, not Posts. Small thing, big headache.

Search defaults to posts. The same way it defaults to no search parameter. The same way no members are selected by default. The search page has defaults is my point. The smart sentence at the bottom tells you exactly what is going to be searched and how it will display before you click the button. It should be no surprise. Posts are the default because they return specific results. Thread view is a step back. Somewhere in there is what you're looking for, but you aren't taken to it directly. Now that being said, there is something in the pipe that will assist you. We do have a task for making Search remember your search. So once that's working you can click search, realize you wanted thread view, click back, your search parameters will still be specified, change it to Thread view and click Search again. Easy. And just so you know we've already implemented remembering your search parameters on our internal copy. That means it should be working for everyone on our next push. Hopefully by the end of this week. A note though, it only works for IE, Firefox, and Chrome. In Safari and Opera it will be like it is now and the Search page will be blank again. That should be fixed eventually in a v5.x update. I hope that explains it. Thank you.

Good enough, not retyping is most of my annoyance.
