down button at top of thread for mobile viewer

This is not regarding the $2.99 Mobile.app.

The desktop view on a mobile phone has a "to bottom" button at the top
of threads.  The mobile view has no way to get to the last reply
quickly...there is no "to bottom" button that I can see.  So it requires
a great deal of finger scrolling. I would like to request that a  "bottom" be added to the mobile view.

Hi paulam

I was having a bit of trouble understanding you at first but I think I've worked out what you're saying.

I used my phone to test this extensively and I figured out where the misunderstanding is.

On your mobile phone... you are accessing the ProBoards Forum, dodgerslist.boards.net and instead of using the mobile version made for your phone you are using the Desktop version.

That forum has a code that they added that made the 'To Bottom' button. That isn't a ProBoards feature. This is something they added to the full desktop version of their site. If you go there on your computer you will see that button as well. It isn't a mobile feature.

Now that being said there is still the concept of the bottom button on mobile. We don't have a bottom button because you never need to go to the bottom. It's not like the top where all the navigation is. You even specifically mentioned the purpose of reading the last reply. But that's not something you do at the bottom. What you do is read the last reply you haven't already read. That isn't the same as the bottom of the page. Clicking a NEW icon automatically takes you to the oldest unread post. That could be two pages from the end of a thread and nowhere near the bottom. Or it could be the last post in the entire thread. But either way we already created buttons that take you straight to that content. Try clicking on NEW icons, I think you'll find they do what you want.

Now just to explain further. We only display 15 posts per page and even with big posts you can scroll down in seconds. We just timed one of our devs scrolling through the ProBoards FAQ here on support. On his Android phone he was able to reach the bottom of the page in just 2 finger swipes and in about 3 seconds. And that is one of the longest pages anywhere.

We will add your idea to our list of future ideas. In the future we will review it. If we like the idea, then we will develop it further at that time. That means it could be a while before it's added. Keep an eye out for it in one of our updates after launch. Maybe your idea will show up, but for now try the NEW icons.

Ryan, thanks for your reply.

For example on dodgerslist.boards.net/thread/109/debbies-angel-4-2-surgery?page=2 it takes me 12 finger swipes to get to the last post on that page to read it before I want to press the reply button IF there is no "new" icon.

So I guess I am asking for a "jump to last post on a page" button.
