Hi.This Morning i had a Pm asking whether we'd like to upgrade our Forum to V5, after upgrading and taking a look about and trying a few things, i would rather have it back the way it was before, due to losing things like Smilies and such, so even if it is only until the end of the Year, would it be possible to put it back to the old version please?southcoastseafishing.proboards.com/Many thanks.

Hi Bazza, Proboards don't go backwards, once you have upgraded it is done. The only way round it would have been as they suggested, and have a test forum of your main site to muck about on. I didn't like it at first either, but I have now been upgraded for a fair few months, things do improve and it gets easier. The patience and willingness from members and staff here dishing out help is fantastic, I would have been lost without them. I changed most of my smilies back to what I had them, they no longer need a photo host, you can upload them from your computer straight into the themes images area and that goes for most of your images. You will get there, don't be too disheartened Getting used to the visual editor is also the key to moving forward, I set it to all sorts of colors initially just to learn what changes what, because the descriptions don't match sometimes what you think they will change.

What Jenant said, there is no way to convert back, but if you make forums in the future, make a beta test site to mess around to make sure you know everything. Getting use to the new plug ins and theme creator can be a struggle, but it takes patience and practice. A lot of people with V5 forums can help you make the transition much smoother and help with themes and plug ins. Just ask

And also is there a Spell checker Code?
Many thanks.

No spell checker as there is one in browsers. Have your image in "my pictures" on your computer. Go to themes manager in admin panel. Click on theme title to open. Click on images, find image you want to replace, load from computer a box will appear or put in url from the host, click enter on you keyboard. It will load from your computer.

That's not good about the Spell checker, i know a few of the Members are old School and was using it I have tried both ways of adding the Smilies that you have mentioned, it shows them in the Panel where you add them, but once you go to make a Post, they are not in the box, only the original one's show? Thanks again.

And also is there a Spell checker Code? Not at the moment, but it's been requested as a plugin, so someone may create one down the line.

You should be able to replace smileys on this page, which can be reached by going into your admin area and selecting Themes > Theme Manager, then choosing your theme from the list and clicking on its Images tab on the following page. Scroll down until you reach the smileys, then select either Link or Upload on an existing smiley, depending on whether or not your smileys are on your PC or online. You also have the option to add new smileys alongside the existing ones. There's instructions on how to install plugins in this thread. They're like the codes that were provided in our code database in V4 to customize your forum, but they're a much more user-friendly alternative that require much less instruction, navigation, and sorting to manage.

Hi again, and many thanks for your help so far.
One thing i seem to have noticed is i can't seem to find Members E-mail Addresses anymore? the thing is with this, is i use their E-mails on the joining process, as we have a locked Forum!!!
Also, is there a way to get a Preview Box, so you can see how a Post looks before you Post it?
Thanks again.

Administrators, at the moment, no longer have access to member's e-mails; you can email them through the administration panel. Proboards is going to allow it again soon. You can just use the administration panel and PM them by username. Also, when you're writing a post, you can use the 'visual' editor as a preview box. Just click the tab at the bottom that says 'visual'. It is a bit confusing at first, I know I was confused, you do get used to it. ^^ Best of luck, Bazza.

Hi All, I upgraded to Beta on my forum a few days ago. I just have questions (or issues...LOL) 1. The Beta format only show about 60% on screen. 2. What has happened to the links at the bottom corner of each post ?? (Report to Mod - Link to - Back to Top). The "back to top" was really convenient for quick return.

The size of the forum can be changed at the top of the visual editor.

I have another tid bit of a problem.... My forum had a Donation Button on the old format where our members could help support the club. That is now gone and really needs to come back on v5. Can you migrate? John
