I just upgraded to V5, against my better judgement... but I knew it was coming anyway... and sure enough I'm locked out of the forum... again.
I've used every password and username I can think of, changed the password and nothing works.....

It says I'm logged in but I can't go any further....

It looks like you are logged in to your global account, but not your FORUM account. Try clicking the link that says "Not you? Login to your account", and use your normal admin id and password.

"Not you? login to your account"
You should be taken to the right login page.

No, it's wants me to log into the Proboards account then won't accept my password for that.

Have you tried requesting a password reset for your admin account?

OK once more in simple terms

Do I log in with my Proboards user name and password?
Or with Admin and MY forum password?
Or MY forum user name and password?

I've already used admin and reset MY forum password.

You should login to your forum using Admin and the admin password. As your forum is in maintenance mode, only staff accounts can log in, anyway.

OK, I'm in, that was unbelievable, I realise security is important but I'm constantly getting into strife with the Proboards account and my own.

Well, I think the one thing you have to remember is that the global login and the FORUM login are not the same thing. Once you're logged in to the global id, you can easily switch forums from down in the right corner by using the button. Or, if you have more than one account on a forum, you can switch accounts by clicking on . But if you're going straight to a forum to login, you need to make sure to use the credentials for that specific site.

My headers and footers seem to be gone forever, strangely enough the newsfeed was easy to get back.

Most of the stuff done in your headers and footers are now done via plugins or template mods. The info is still there though. Just go to your admin panel > Structure > Headers and Footers. You can try moving stuff from your old headers/ footers to the new, but many probably won't work. Check the Plugin Database and Plugin Index to see if plugins have been created for codes you used to use. If not, you can put in a request on the request plugin board.

OK, I'm a bit wary of the plugins at the moment

The plugins are no worse than the existing codes. You download them to your pc, then import them to your site. You don't "open" them on your computer. You couldn't if you wanted to, as they're only meant to work on a forum.
