Hey Liz, I'm popping a few test posts around your forum (and deleting them after, don't worry!) and I still haven't been able to trigger any timeout errors, so that's good news. Perhaps that was a short-lived problem? Are you still getting those? I can't be sure what is it's own problem and what's potentially related to the AJAX issues until a developer takes a look, but just for good measure, can you clear your browsing data for me and see if that helps the hang-ups at all? Click the button with three lines in the top right, go to Tools, and click on Clear Browsing Data. Make sure to get rid of your cookies and clear your cache, specifically.

Hi David
I cleared all my browser settings last night and it didn't make any difference. I haven't made many posts since I last posted here, but I had one hang a few hours ago before eventually going through.
If the hang up problem has gone away then that's fine. I'll let you know if it happens again.
The Ajax process errors are still ongoing as I've reported in the Bugs thread. Tested in IE10, Firefox 19 and Chrome 25, both in normal and incognito modes - the error message came up in all the browsers.
I also tested it on my Kindle Fire using the Silk browser and no error messages showed up on that

Liz, thank you for being so diligent with the testing and troubleshooting of these issues - as a support admin this kind of behavior certainly makes things easier on us. The AJAX problem is sitting patiently at the top of our internal bug report system and of course our developers will be taking a look at it when they get back in tomorrow, Monday. Until then unfortunately there's not a whole lot we can do about preventing those errors from popping up for you and your users. In the meanwhile, do keep me updated on any additional issues you run across and we can troubleshoot them as they arise.

Hi Liz, After reviewing this problem with others here at this office, we were able to determine that certain plugins are the culprit of many of the AJAX error reports we've been getting, as certain unauthorized codes can potentially trigger this. To that end, I attempted to make a post on your forum with plugins disabled and received no error. Other users have reported relief from this error by disabling Todge's Personal Smileys plugin, which I can see you've installed. Can you disable that and attempt to recreate the error?

Hi David I wondered who had disabled all my plugins. I decided to check them all again and enabled them one by one leaving Todge's Awards system plugin until last. The Personal Smileys plugin caused no error message, but the Awards System plugin was the culprit That's the only one I have left disabled - all the other plugins are enabled and there are no more Ajax messages. I reported all this on the bugs thread a short time ago

Liz, During my test I disabled your plugins for myself only - it would have left all of yours intact and turned on! Not sure why they all came up disabled for you. But regardless! I'm glad you and your users are able to get some peace from those errors. From here, you'll want to let Todge know about the issues you're having with his plugin and see if there's anything that can be done on his end (although with the sudden influx of users with these AJAX issues, something tells me he is already aware).

Yes they were all disabled David but I figured it was probably a PB admin! No more Ajax errors but I'm getting the 408 Time-out message again so I'm going to disable Todge's Personal Smiley plugin as well (I don't use the Smiley drop down plug in) I think Todge will know about by now!

Be sure to let Todge know on this one as well.

I spoke too soon - I had a post hang on me after I disabled the Personal Smiley plugin.
Also, the last post I made here on Support hung on me as well so I reckon that's a totally separate problem
I've enabled Personal Smileys again and I give up!
As far as my forum is concerned Todge's Awards System plugin was causing the Ajax errors but the duplicate post and time out issues are things that have happened since ProBoards latest software push and don't seem to be anything to do with plugins
I'll report the Awards System problem in the relevant section

Two PB forums (mine and another) have been hanging badly this last hour and even this one took a while for my earlier post to go through. I don't think Photobuckets changes have done any favours either as our forum has a lot of graphics
