couple of dumb questions.

I am reading quite a bit about loading times of v5 sites being issues for some users and i have been experiencing loading problems but with a version four site. I have mentioned my lagging scroll to the head admin and they have changed their skin but they just don't want to listen to my advice so i have just put it up with and shut up about their lagging forum. I have mentioned to them, that archived threads and the amount of images they have on there could be the problem, but since no one else is reporting any issues with this one forum my struggles go un heard.

However now my site is doing the same thing, its a v5 site and hardly anything on there image wise. So now i'm thinking it could be a processor issue on my laptop, running the two tabs at the same time seems to be when both sites are at their worst. I will post links to both, so you can have a look and let me know if i can do anything to make the speed improve any.

But my question is, once plugins have been downloaded and uploaded to the forums... Can deletion of the pbt files be done, or would this cause the plugins to no longer work? (dumb question 1)

Also if you use Chrome like i do, then you may notice that the cbox has gone wonky... did you guys alter the redux sidebar plugin at all? if so how can i get the login part of the cbox to show up again please? i have tried the obvious, altering the height of the cbox on the cbox.ws site but this didn't help any, also the font seems to of altered without me touching anything on my forum. to me it looks smaller and almost impossible to read the board descriptions, did chrome update their font sizes or something? (dumb question 2)

A theme's existence does not affect the functionality of a plugin. Plugins exist separately from themes, and will always be on the forum until you've deleted them from the plugins page.

The Sidebar Redux plugin isn't a "we" thing. I'm the sole person in charge of that plugin. Also, the contents of plugins aren't affected in any way by updates we do to ProBoards. The only way to update or change a plugin is to do it manually on your end.

The Cbox looks fine to me in both Firefox and Chrome. Not sure what you're referring to there. Have you tried a hard refresh? (Ctrl+F5)

If your forum is running slow, try temporarily disabling your plugins and seeing if your performance improves.

So only update a current plugin if there is a problem with it? And if i delete the pbt file from my laptop, would the plugin still work on the forum?

fixed the cbox, don't know why it was messed up but i fiddled with the sizes and such.

I tried all other sidebars and by far yours is my favorite lol

If you have a look at some of the banners running at the top of your forum , you’ll see that there extremely extensive and take a lot of band with to run thus slowing down loading times..

cbfb i only have two themes, which has a banner on each theme... (delusional) but yes i know that multiple banners slow down loading times. on the other forum (love sucks) i have mentioned this to the site owner but she prefers that many banners on there, so there's nothing i can do really other than shut up and stay or leave lol

Im talking about the proboard banners that precede the loading of the forum . Thy use to be simple graphics but if you look at some of them now , there off the highest quality graphic with the longest loading time . 

Its like loading a little movie before the forums load , solution , pay to have the banners removed…

Sometimes plugins will be updated to fix bugs that existed in them. Other times (especially with mine), the latest version of a plugin will have a smorgasbord of new features. It's entirely up to you.

Having the plugin saved as a file on your laptop doesn't affect its existence online. Once you've uploaded a plugin to your forum, it's stored on the server and has no dependence on the file you have saved to your PC.
