help with new forum

Hi stopsign707, sorry for the delay!

To convert your forum to V5, pop into your admin panel. There will be a link you can follow at the top of the control panel that will guide you through the process of upgrading. The forum you want to style yours after is a v4 forum however, so it'll take a little customization to reflect that look on your new one. It is entirely possible, however!

Can you tell me more regarding what about the style of that other forum that you like, so I can help you through the process of making your own forum look that way?

You'll be glad to know what once you upgrade to v5, you'll have full access to the plugins on our plugin board here on support. Plugins are little forum add-ons programmed by ProBoards users that can be installed by an admin via the control panel to change certain things without having to find or write a code for it like you'd have to do in v4 (which is what that forum you linked is doing!).

The sidebars will be easy - you can find a plugin for them here. In the settings you'll find plenty of options to customize the sidebar to your liking, and we can work on getting images that link to other sites in there later.

They do this with a heavily customized code in their header/footer that was generated by Adobe ImageReady, a program that ships with Photoshop, when they used that program to make their banner. This is possible to do without Adobe ImageReady, but isn't really feasible for you at the moment as you're still working on getting a banner up and running, let alone creating a banner with links embedded in the image.

For this, I'm going to refer you to our Colors & Theme Creator, available from the v5 admin panel under the Themes dropdown. From here you'll be able to customize the color scheme of your entire forum with just a few easy clicks, and there are options to change your forum banner in there as well. If you wanted a custom banner like the one on the forum you linked, you'd need to design it in a program like Paint or Photoshop. I advise that for the time being you stick with stock ProBoards banners that are accessible from the Colors & Theme Creator.

The converter is offline at the moment, but is expected to be back online later today. If your forum is still in the queue, it'll convert in a matter of minutes once the converter is back online
