Live View in Posts

Hey so I've been going through v5 and there was one feature on v4 that my members and I loved.  I would love to see a 'live view' able to be enabled in the posts so we can view what we're posting before we post (without having to hit 'preview').  If there's a code for this please link me to it or if the live view from v4 will work that'd be great.  Thanks!

In V5, this is the "visual" tab on the editor page. If you want visual to be the default mode, you can change the default editor in your profile's settings.

I've been tinkering with that but on my RP sites we usually have a set template that we transfer from post to post that includes images as well as text and such.  If that template is copy/pasted into the reply box it doesn't show up properly even with the visual set. I have to change to the bbcode then back to visual for it to register the live preview and even then the coding is modified a little. Am I doing something wrong?

I don't have experiences with posting templates, but I know there is some sort of plugin for them or something. Someone else can probably give you more info on this…

So there are two different types of changes that happen to formatting if you switch from BBCode to Visual (now called Preview) and back again.

The first is if you have malformed or incorrect BBCode. Switch to Visual, Switch back and your BBCode itself has changed. This is simply the BBCode formatting itself to better web standards. There's nothing wrong with what you entered, there's just a more correct way to do things and when you toggle back and forth the editor has to convert back and forth.

The second is when you're working on something like a table and you toggle. Before you had all this nice formatting helping you fill in and organize the table. But when you toggled it condensed it all into a single line and ruined your ability to pickup where you left off without a lot of trouble.

The first example above won't be changing. We need the editor to format things correctly before they are posted and when you toggle back and forth it needs to update your BBCode. The second example however we just had a meeting about yesterday and we think we have a way to fix this. To keep your line breaks where you may have them while you're building a table or other complex posts. That should be rolled out by launch in 2 weeks.
