Missing Post Count For Only Some Members

2) What happened, in detail?
For some members the post count has vanished in their mini profile. I noticed this because I have a group for those that haven´t posted. Some of the members should have 1000+ posts.  For some members it is working fine.
I don´t have any plugins for the mini profile.  (and I don't think I have done any changes to the theme for the mini profile)
As I haven't been around for a while, there have been no additions/changes to the site for many weeks. This seemed to start happening today.
3) What do you think should have happened instead?
The post count should be there for all members.
4) Can you reproduce this on every pageview?
Yes.
5) What browser, version, and operating system are you using? Windows 8, IE10 & FF
6) Please attach a screen shot (JPG or PNG -- not GIF or BMP) if it is relevant

(PS: I just tried to add the above picture as an attachment but although the button highlights on mouse over it doesn't do anything when clicked, maybe that's another bug report. IE10)

I have also noticed this and at the same time when it does happen, usually the members avatar goes missing too.

As an example, in one thread we see this happen:


However, if I go look at that members recent posts and view the exact same post it looks fine:

Thanks Michael, I've even got one of my Global Moderators showing up as a new member without any post count
