Yep. I'm so green at this. Only a couple of weeks ago did I learn how to use plugins and I LOVE them.
I like to create my own themes. Still, if I were to want to use any that are posted here. I'm not sure how to do this.
My question is for anyone who would like to let all of us, who are green, know how to do this....
~ After I click the download, how do I get it on my site? (I know the angry bear is still busy at work in the Theme Library.) Still, I think from what I'm reading, people are already being able to share them somehow.
I don't use the plugin area do I? That does not sound right.

Here is how you import and export a theme.
To export or save file. Click on file in post--> a pop up window should appear You have chosen to open file name. check the box save file and ok--> new box popups asking where you want to save it to. If you have a specific folder for Proboards save it there-->than click save
To import file go to your theme manager and click on create new/import theme-->click on existing theme and browse your computer go to folder you saved the file in click on file and open and it will import theme.

My problem is that once I have found it, and click to upload the zipped file, it uploads forever. I guess I can't figure out how to unzip the file while in the process of trying to upload it to my site. I'm still working on figuring it out, so I have not given up just yet. Thanks. I can't wait to start experimenting a bit more making my own themes so someday I may share them here with others who would be interested. Thanks again.

I used one of the themes that was in a zip file. I copied the theme .pbt file and saved it in another file outside the zip file. Had to do that with the plugin .pbp files also.

If the files end in the ext pbt they should be uploaded directly through the admin panel either themes manager or plugin manager. If the files end in zip then you need to unzip those files with a program like winzip and then upload the pbt file directly through your admin panel either the theme manager or plugin manager.

Most Windows versions (Xp onwards) have a built in Winzip. All you need to do, is double click (on your PC) the .zip file, and then it should bring up some instructions/options. Click "browse" (select your folder) and then "unzip". Now you should either have a folder with all the themes contents in (for example images, instructions/readme's, the .pbt etc) or you may see a .pbt directly. Upload that to your "import theme" section. Alternatively, you can use this FREE unrar/unzip site: b1.org/online#It opens the files for you, but then you need to download the files within side.

I just heard back from the particular theme creator that I'm trying to upload... Well, this is what she suggested to do with the .pbt file. It's partially done and all looks cool so far. I just left a message asking if I'm supposed to do that with the rest. Too bad I didn't peek in here first. Thanks Tressa for responding. I'm going to go do the rest now. Thanks. Oh and thanks mamagail48. It's good to know there are options on how to do things if one way does not work out.

Thanks Windows 7 definitely should have built in Winzip. Have a try for me if you like. Get a .zip file, right click it when you have it saved on your computer, and then see if there is anything like "open with winzip" or "extract with winzip".

Get a .zip file, right click it when you have it saved on your computer, and then see if there is anything like "open with winzip" or "extract with winzip". I'm only on here for a second. However, I've never heard of winzip until this thread. I was able to open the zipped file by double clicking on it. It opened right up. But that was only when I was doing it without my site being involved. Just looking at the download. At that time I could see everything that was supposed to be there. Maybe I do have winzip on my computer and it works automatically. Or at least this time. I still think your link would be handy for a backup just in case. My problem earlier was that I didn't take the things out of the zipped file before trying to upload it to my site. Just using the site's upload option, that directed to my computer's downloads... double clicking on the zipped file would not work. It just uploaded forever. I have not had the chance to tinker around anymore since I last posted here. My daughter was needing for me to take her shopping. I'm going to try again in the morning. I have lots of images to put on a host site before installing them... or I think that is what I'm being told is the next step. Looks like it will take some time... but worth it.

Skidjit. When you double click and the .zip file opens up, there should be some option within the new open window for you to unzip/extract. I don't know exactly where because I use winrar. But I think when you have the window open after double clicking on it, if you right click on the contents within it, you should see a unzip/extract to, and then usually you can either extract directly to the location your .zip is at (for example, if your .zip is saved on your desktop, if you were to select "extract/extract here", it'd extract.unzip the contents to the desktop. If you choose to browse and extract elsewhere, you would of course be choosing to unzip to a specific folder/location.
