I have been looking for a thread that explains how to disable chat, I do not need the chat on our site so I would like you to tell me how I can disable it.

What chat are we talking about? Chatango, tinychat, what?

Hi johnie68,

Just in case you're referencing the shoutbox, visit your admin panel and then navigate to Settings > Shoutbox. You can disable the shoutbox on the next page

Is this on a page, or just on the forum? I can not see it, sorry.

Visit your admin panel, then navigate to Structure > Headers & Footers. On the next page, click on the Main Header & Footer option. On the next page, look at the second box on the page for your main footer and you'll find the following listed toward the bottom of that text box:

If you remove this and save the changes, this will remove the javachat from the forum

I printed off your post and did as you said, I still cannot get this chat addon removed, is there something that I am doing wrong as I did what you said word for word and saved changes.

When you go back into the headers and footers, does it show the code at all?

I went in and confirmed that the code is still there, johnie68. Are you sure you removed it?

Yes I did it twice, all the code in the second box, but still not removed

I went ahead and removed the code for you, and that seems to have taken care of the chat box.

I can't be sure as to why it wasn't going through for you, though, johnie68...

Many Thanks David, I cannot understand why it did not go off when I did it, thought it may be a bug ?
