The WYSIWYG converts [center] tags to [div style="text-align: center"][/div] which is not equivalent except in IE7 and below (or IE8 quirks mode), other browser use this to center text but not elements.
Keep the center tags. If it's for html5 compliance then the decision to keep font tags has already destroyed that goal plus if you view source on Google's homepage you will see it does generates center tags
Yes, the html2bbcode (and vice versa) calls explicitly makes sure that conversion occurs when switching between tabs

Hi Chris, This is an old bug report by now, but I wanted to ask you something about it. I did some quick tests in Chrome, and that browser seems to treat <center> and <div style="text-align: center;"> as equivalent. I tried it for text, images, and tables. Could you provide some HTML samples where the 2 are not equivalent? (Obviously it won't work in a post, but I'll just view it as a local file.)
