Adding events to the forum calendar is a good way to promote upcoming events to the members of your forum. If you're interested in creating a new event to the forum's calendar, first view the calendar by clicking the Calendar button which is usually located in the top menu bar on the forum. Once clicked, you'll be brought to the calendar view for the forum and you should notice a "New Event" button displayed toward the top-right hand corner of the calendar. Click this button to get started.
Once you've clicked the New Event button, a pop-up box will appear asking you for the date that your event is expected to occur. By default the forum will expect that you will want your event displayed in days, but if you want to fine-tune your event to occur within certain hours you can simply uncheck the box for all day event. Once that's done, you'll see some additional options come up allowing you to adjust the time for the start and end of the event.
Below the date and time controls for the event, you'll see the boards of the forum displayed. The board you select here will be where the thread for your event will be placed after the event is created. Simply click on the name of the board you want the event thread to be in and then click the Create Event button.
After the Create Event button has been clicked, you'll be brought to the Create Thread screen, like you would see when creating a new thread on the forum. The subject you provide will be the name of the event that's displayed in the calendar on the forum. To the right of the Subject field you'll find an Edit Event button just in case you want to adjust the start or end time for the event. Once the subject of the event has been provided, give some details about the event in the message area and then click the Create Thread button when finished. Once completed, a new thread will be created about the event in the board you selected and the event will appear in the forum's calendar view.
If you have an event created that has been canceled, it is possible to remove the event from the calendar. You can do this by simply deleting the thread that was created for the event from the forum. If you want to keep the topic around and just want to remove the entry from the calendar, visit the thread that was created for the event and then click the Edit button found in the top-right hand corner of the first post. On the modify page, you should see an Edit Event button listed to the right of the subject field. Click the Edit Event button and in the pop-up that appears, click the Remove Event button. Once that's done, click the Save Changes button on the modify page and the event will be removed from the forum's calendar.
