dsulpy.proboards.comThere used to be a "new" button on the menu at the top. According to one user: "Doug, it was a clearly delineated button at the top of the page along the same row as the Home, Search, Help, Memebers, Admin buttons as opposed to now- in tiny (VERY tiny) letters, at the bottom of only the home page. Clicking on the button allowed us to quickly see the most recent posts and when they'd been written- day and time. If the post was from the same day, it would indicate "Today" in bold along with the time. If it was from yesterday, then "Yesterday" in plain text along with the time. And then, "2 Days Ago", "3 Days Ago" etc. with the time of the posting." People are asking for this back. Can you tell me how to do that?

I cannot answer this thread as far as the coding needed to get the New button back. However you do realize that there is no need for this button anymore right?
In your profiles you get notifications when someone tags, quotes, likes your post. And the Participated in button at the top right, also allows you to see which threads/posts have been replied too.
Also in the info center, you should see a today's posts part. Or most recent post or something along those lines, depends on which IC mods you have.
(I am only answering this because i saw your Has everyone left post in the support board.)

Not sure why, but the search function is broken. There are a ton of threads about adding links for New Posts or New Topics to the menu bar (as seen on my board, if you wish to click the pic in my siggy).
I did finally find this one by RedBassett : You can add custom navigation bar items using the URLS "/recent/threads" and "/recent/posts" to add these links to the navigation menu.
Would that not work?

The "/recent/threads" path will give you the exact same thing as the old 'New Topics' button. Go to your Admin CP > Settings > Forum Settings > Navigation In Name, type New Topics (or whatever else you prefer) In URL, type "/recent/threads" (no quotes) Click the box in the Display column so that it has a checkmark in front of it. It should autosave, and your new button will be added to the menu. You can adjust where the button appears on the menu by dragging the double arrow on the Navigation settings page up or down the list.

THANK YOU! I added the name "New Posts" and the url /posts/recent and it does what I wanted - basically doing the same thing as the "recent posts" at the bottom, but putting it in a button on the menu bar. This used to be in V4, and people REALLY miss it. Welshling and Moonbeam, I sincerely appreciate your input as well. Maybe after a few months I can finally get the board working the same as I did before I hit that "upgrade" button last week.
