When searching for member names, it is unfortunate that it doesn't return their display name as well as their user id. Am I just not seeing how I'm supposed to access this? I'm wanting to populate a select element with users, but I can't display their usernames for people to recognize instead of just user ids.

Any insight?

Unfortunately, the user ID is the only thing that's returned by the user search portion of plugins, although it's still applicable to the functionality of plenty of plugins.

As an alternative, you could just fill in the usernames yourself with another field. At the very least you'll still have the member IDs for any links.
