I want my forum to look the same

I am incredibly frustrated. I have spent hours working on this. When the changeover occurs, is there any way to leave my forum completely unchanged so that it looks the way it does now.

I am working in beta for my e-portfolio www.cherylaa.proboards.com

I want everything to look the same as my original forum.

Since it is an e-portfolio, I "blanked out" a lot of things like the smilies, etc. In the old version, I used the proboard code for blank ... does that not work any longer?


I can't seem to work with the themes --- for instance, even though I had customized the images for Home / Admin / Logout ... they didn't change ... I just hit default (thinking it would go to default of my current board.)

This is an absolute nightmare.

If you're just looking to make it look exactly like v4, I suggest you check out this theme: support.proboards.com/thread/444786/v4ism-proboards-v4-theme.

My forum doesn't look like that. I did many many changes to it. It is an e-portfolio that employers use to view my credentials.

Okay, so cherylaa.proboards.com/ isn't the forum you're trying to reproduce? Can you link both the forum you're trying to reproduce and the forum you're trying to reproduce it on?

The V4 has the same background color scheme but that is about it.

That is the correct forum but in the beta version, I can't get the "home" "admin" "log out" button to show as it is on the regular version of the forum. It shows in a basic font and that's it. Also in beta, I have tried to eliminate many of the visuals by using this code - s1.images.proboards.com/blank.gif - not sure if that still works. I am the only one who can post on the board b/c it's my portfolio so I don't need emoticons. I also got ride of the calendar, profile buttons, etc.



Of course it is all brand new to me and I am trying to find a lot of things but it seems all so inordinately difficult.



Are all forums going to change over to a "stock" version or will the designs of the original forum stay the same? If the latter, then it is easier for the admin to just go through the controls and see how to change things rather than build a brand new board from the ground up.

If you're trying to come as close as possible to duplicating your existing theme, I highly recommend starting with this theme as a base.  It will lay out the structure very closely to the way it was laid out in v4.  From there, you can modify the colors, images, banner, and links to match your v4 forum.  Make sure you follow the directions in the linked thread to add the v4ism menu buttons plugin.  

I'm not sure what you mean by a 'stock version'.  When a forum is converted to v5, we do our best to transfer over the colors, images, etc. that make up most of the theme into the new v5 version.  Because of the many redesigned systems, not everything will look the same after a conversion, but we built all the tools in v5 to be easier and faster to use than their counterparts in v4.  If you have trouble with anything specific in the new version, you can always post here for help.
