Hi Wormopolis. I want to start by saying how much I & the members of my forum love this plugin. We're mostly a comic book fan site and it has been perfect to add logos of favorite character's names and book titles to thread titles in place of just the plain text. We have replaced a number of words in thread titles on our forum with images using this plugin.

We just added Todge's Recently Updated Threads Sidebar a few days ago using Brian Ordonez's Sidebar Redux as a container as Todge recommends...and hit a problem.

Your images in thread titles don't show up there. In the just added sidebar we get the code for the images instead.

So instead of The Appreciation Thread, we get:
The [iceman] appreciation thread.

Instead of we get [ALL-NEW-X-FACTOR].

Not only do we not get the attractive image, we get placeholder code that is less attractive than simple text would be.

I wasn't sure which developer to address this with, or if it's even something that's fixable, so I started by asking Todge. This was her response:

I made sure both sidebar plugins were below your plugin to no effect. Is there any way you can make your plugin target whatever is necessary to make the images work in the sidebar?

Yeah the plugin won't natively find those links. I would have to add in something to allow the targetting

Ah. Was afraid it would require work on your end. Thanks in advance if you update the plugin to allow for that.

Okay, the code partially worked.

First I tried each code individually on my forum, refreshing the home page each time, to no effect. Then I remembered I also have the Styled Member Names Plugin by peter on my forum(So far used just to color and BOLD staff member names), and it only works on your plugin on some pages. I thought that was maybe an issue with that plugin. I tried the first code again, and checked some of the pages where the other plugin works with yours, and the images from Wormo's plugin were now appearing on those pages in your sidebar(where before the images weren't appearing on the sidebar anywhere on the forum).

I've tweaked a little of the code on my forum, and have installed a bunch of plugins, and I wanted to test this in a clean environment. So I created a test forum. abptestforum.boards.net/

I added only the following five plugins in the following order(Yootil Library is necessary for 'Styled Member Names' to work):

Yootil Library 0.9.9
Images in Thread Titles 1.1.5
Styled Member Names 2.1.0
Sidebar Redux 1.3.1
Recently Updated Threads Sidebar 0.2.4

Basically, the 'Images in Thread Titles' and 'Styled Member Names' both only work on your plugin on pages that start with Forum_Url/board and Forum_Url/thread, with 'Styled Member Names' additionally working on pages that start with Forum_Url/post.

Even with the targeting in Wormo's plugin, neither of those work in the sidebar on the main forum page that shows all the boards, nor the search page, members page, profile page, messages page etc. or on any custom pages. And I know it's not because those two plugins specifically don't work on those pages for some reason because they both work all over the main forum page except in the sidebar. I also briefly disabled 'Sidebar Redux' to rule out any issue with that to no effect.

I'm at a loss.

Try moving the Recently Updated Threads Sidebar plugin to the top of the list. It doesn't use Yootil, so it can safely go above that.

The problem is that the two other plugins are not seeing the recent threads cell before they are executed, probably because they have function calls in the Global Footer along with this plugin.

I cannot force this plugin to execute faster, nor can I make the other two wait before executing. But, I think it may be able to be 'fixed' with a JS code put into you Global Footer that execute the other plugins' functions after a window onload event, but you'd have to beg Wormo and Peter for that.

Rest assured, they are both nice guys, just keep your head bowed and offer them cake, and I'm sure they'll help.

Either that or tell you I'm wrong, in which case feel free to come back and smack me across the head (not hard).

Yeah thread titles orginally was written to only even run on any page that would contain actual thread titles to reduce overhead. having the code run on edit-profile pages or PM compose pages seemed like a waste of time and slowed down the forum for no reason. currently it checks on all board pages, home page, thread pages, and recent posts/threads pages.

Wormo like all of your work this is a nice plugin but as usual someone has got to ask if something else could be added so I'll raise my hand.   Is it possible that a drop down button could be put in the thread menu bar above so that when a member clicked on Create Thread it would appear with all the image choices that were put in the plugin's settings? Maybe if it can't be put there then say another button by the gear icon drop down or even in the gear icon drop down menu with the other choices? I know things can be added there? To me it would make it so much easier for members to use?

Honestly, I think I'd be happy if I could get the images to work in the sidebar on the home page at this point.

There's a setting on the 'Recent Threads Sidebar':
By default, the Recent Threads will be displayed on the Home Page of your forum. Would you also like them to be displyed on all the ancillary pages, like profile pages and PM pages?

It's not what I would want to do...I think it's a great option for example if you are PMing with someone to be able to look over and see what is being posted about on the boards, but if I have to, I could simply stop it from displaying on all the pages it doesn't render the image tag code on aside from the home page; which is to me the most important page to have 'look right'. I mean, it's someone's first impression of your forum, you don't want code showing of any kind.

What I can't figure is why since your images in thread titles show up in other places on the home page, and your plugin is actually targeting hers, it still won't show up in the sidebar there; even though with the targeting it now will show the images in the sidebar on board pages and thread pages.
