So seeing as (many) people will not want to buy more super keys. Is there any other place to store data that is accessible by all users? I know that before v5, developers had to use the personal text field. Is this still possible? And if so, how?

If you're just looking to expose some data to all users, a regular key can accomplish that. If you're looking for all users being able to read and write to that field, then there might be some way to accomplish that using custom fields, but it would lack some of the functionality of super keys. (Not to mention that purchasing more super keys helps support all of us working on v5 )

Yes, I know, and I'd like to support you as much as I can, but I don't have that kind of money. ( I know, it's extremely cheap but ) How would I go about adding data to a custom field?

same way you did in v4. you have to have the member on the edit profile page and have it store data in one of the fields that are present. your bigger problem will be knowing if the data will still be present when the profile gets displayed. if they edit templates and remove custom title or status or what-have-you then your data also goes with it.
