Is there a way to tell what the id of the first post is if you are on later pages of a thread?

Doesn't look like it. I can find last post ID easily enough, and first post of the current page. Also, just in case you hadn't already found it, you can use proboards.dataHash to see all the available variables on a given page.

dang... ok. well if there is a still a list of "things to add in the future if we ever stop getting beat up by glitches" then can that be added? it is useful if you need to refer back to the first post of a thread - especially for a key

You can just type that in to the js console on your browser and hit enter.
