Hello, I just found this plugin and I'm quite exited, as it's something I've been looking for for a while.
I probably sound like an idiot, but I'm quite confused about how the plugin works.
I've installed in, and the alters tab is showing up on profiles, but my confusion is about creating alters.
I see in the plugin settings there is a characters tab, but I'm not sure how to create new alters, I tried filling out one of the forms but if click add members under user it won't find any members who's usernames I type.

So essentially my question is,
how do you create new alters?

if a plugin forum search isnt working, make a thread in support about re-indexing your forum to make the search work.

the plugin form itself has user-id (where you choose which of your members use that alter), and username (which you choose for the alter like you would for a member account. the code uses this username to store to the post.)

Hey Wormo. I'm afraid you've broken your own plugin with the new selection system.

My members report - and I confirm - that when you click the "Alters" button, you can see all of everyone's Alters' avatars on the list (although only your own have name labels).

Moreover, Alters associated with the Extension plugin seem to have incorrect name labels/avatars: I can't even discern which is the case, because even if we pick one, we can't post as one.

selectDialog apparently returns an array even if number is 1. so I had to rewrite some things to expect that for companion

The new feature I am currently working on is Alter tagging in posts. It will require Alters to all have usernames setup (not display names) because the tagging feature will be similar to the native tagging feature. It will also require the companion plugin to be installed in order to store the tag notifications. and because I have to change how the companion stores it key, tagging wont work on an alter until its owner has made at least 1 Alter post after the companion plugin is updated (because I have to switch the key to an array storage). if a tag is attempted before that first post is done, it will still show the tag in the post, however the owner will not get the notification. there MIGHT also be a collision issue where the owner is currently writing a post simultaneously while someone else is attempting to tag, and if the owner submits AFTER the tag, the notification will get overwritten. If I can think of a way to keep that from happening, I will.

I also havent figured out how Im going to display alter tag notifications... I was thinking of squeezing in some space in the standard notification table. having it show a list of each tag, and the only way to clear them is to actually click from the notification box itself since I cant clear the notification on a standard page load. hopefully this wont cause too much heartache, but I can only work within the rules set forth by PB.

I have been using the Alters and Alters Extension plugin for some time. They're lovely.
I just recently added Companion to the group to keep track of alter posts. It works great with my alters.. but, my other staff member is having issues. The alters still show, but the post count number never changes.

I've tried every simple fix I could think of.

At first I thought perhaps it was the Extension, since I had all of her alters on that board. So I made myself an alter there, tested and it worked fine. I did the reverse and added her a character on the Alters and it had the same issue of not counting posts.

I deleted and re-added one of her alters with the same information. It repopulated beautifully, but still didn't count.

I deleted her from being able to post with said alter, and added myself. I made a post with the alter, and it counted. Did it again, and it counted.
Removed my name and added hers back, and it again, did not count.

I've modified the post count and tried to see if that affected it, it updated but never changed after she posted again with that alter.

I made her a brand new 'test' alter on the extension and the alter plugin with different usernames so they wouldn't collide. nothing. modified count number. nothing. switched me to being able to use them, and it worked. back to her. nothing..


It's probably something I'm overlooking, and simple. Hopefully you can help.
If you need any screenshots/other info just ask. I just wasn't sure what I could screenshot exactly..

Oh, the Companion Key Settings are 
read: staff
write: members/staff

&She is marked as Staff in the Member Groups, so I didn't think this would cause any issues.
