Side bars plugin !

Ok I have no idea what a plugin is used for. But I liked the idea of the side bar which I believe is a shout box ??
Well I just asked it to be installed nothing happened. I thought I had followed the instructions but obviously did not do it
right could some one take me by the hand and walk me through installing this please. I am a complete pc novice
and no spring chick either LOL thank you.

Go to your Admin Area > Plugins > Manage > Sidebar Redux. From here, click on either the 'Left Sidebar' tab or the 'Right Sidebar' tab, depending on which one you want.

- Check the 'Enabled' checkbox
- Set the 'Left/Right Sidebar Width' text field, to '200px', without the quotes
- Set the 'Left/Right Sidebar Spacing' text field to '20px', again without the quotes
- Select 'Style 1 (Regular container)' for the 'Style' option
- Enter whatever content you want in the 'Content' area, this is what will show up in your sidebar.
- Hit 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page
