Shoutbox Mods Help

So I have two things I'm hoping to modify...

1) I know there's a mod to move-shoutbox ( support.proboards.com/thread/433242/ ) but that still makes it visible on all profiles and threads. How could I make the shoutbox appear only in the front page of the forum?

2) I want to add avatars to the chat but this  code ( support.proboards.com/thread/432196/ ) doesn't seem to work for me. I followed the instructions exactly, but it just removes the names of the chatters. I... I... need helps.

If you go to Admin > Themes > Layout Templates > Forum Wrapper
Now on approximately line 67 you should see $[shoutbox]

Copy that to your clipboard and then add <!-- to the start of it, and--> to the end, so now line 67 should look like:
<!--$[shoutbox]-->
You should also have the original part on your clipboard still. Click save, and then in the Layout Templates, go to Home.

Go to the very bottom and make a new line, and then empty/paste your clipboard so you should now have something such as:

</div>
{/if}
$[shoutbox]

I was wondering.... if I might ask one more thing, if you maybe have a solution to a few other issues I'm having with the shoutbox mods? The add-avatar mod doesn't work for me. I did everything as instructed.. could there be something wrong with my forum?

What mod are you using and what happens when you insert said mod?
