New Versions

I've just been looking at the plugins and noticed there are some new versions for plugins. Can't it be possible to automatically update the new versions installed on the forums or have pm?

I'm now checking my plugins

We are planning on implementing push notifications about plugin updates at some point, but I don't have an ETA on that for you at this time.

It's still going to be a while. There's only three of us actively contributing code to v5, so that's three of us to fix all the bugs and implement any new features.

Thanks for reply Tim Camara. I'll wait until one of my plugins changes versions and see if it works. Hope to have plugin notifications for new versions soon.

old versions of plugins only stop working when the base code gets changed for some reason and they were relying on something that was changed.

When it's implemented, you'll be notified in the development blog. Keep an eye on it.

In the meantime, try bookmarking the support threads for the plugins you use so you receive notification of posts in them. That way you will know when authors post saying they're updated. Make it habit to look maybe every other week or once a week at the actual Plugin Library in your admin panel to see if any of the plugins you use are at the top, when a plugin is updated it is pushed back to the top so you can see what all the 'new' and updated ones are. There are plenty of ways for admins to stay on top of their plugins and their updates without the automatic note from proboards. =)
