Email sent when thread created by subscribed member

A the title hints at, I was wondering if there was a plugin already or one someone better than me could create that would allow users who subscribe to another user to set notifications of that subscribed users activity (new threads created, posts, likes, etc etc)

but mainly the new thread created would be REALLY useful.  and if its only tied to who you are subscribed to, it should not be too spammy...

maybe an option could be set to lump notifications into a once-a-day digest or something....
