Mist, find this section in Themes > Layout Templates > Home. Add the bit in green to it.

Ah that's what I was missing the <td></td> because I even tried putting it below where you did. Thank you so much.
But #user-legend-name { float: right; } goes where??

Can't seem to figure out why I can't change the height and width. It's so small at the moment no one can see it. How to change the sizes??

Thank you so much for this wonderful add on. It took me a bit to figure out what to do but I got it to work with your directions.

Just wanted to ask, is it possible to bold the text that appears when you hover over a color box ? And I love this plugin. Very nice one and one of my favorites.

I'm having a huge issue with assigning ranks to members... I know very, very little about CSS. I've added a border colour, and named/coloured ranks, but how do I add users to those ranks? Sorry!

Your users' actual ranks are determined by your settings on the Members > Member Ranks and Members > Member Groups pages of your admin area. The plugin has no bearing on your forum's actual ranks but serves as a visual illustration of your groups.

Okay, so how do I link it so that these ranks that are given by the plug in change the username colours of users? Do I link it somehow through User Groups or User Ranks? Sorry to ask so many "Plugins for Dummies" questions.

Sorry to ask so many "Plugins for Dummies" questions. Member Ranks are determined by post count and have no bearing on the username color. On the Member Groups page you can assign colors to each group you've created, but those groups need to be manually assigned to users. Unfortunately there's no way to tie them to post count like ranks.
