Site: alcryst.proboards.comRequest: If there is already a plugin or some other way to disable smilies on a forum, I deeply apologize, but as I have yet to find it I figured I would request one. Assuming one does not already exist, I'd love a way to make it so nothing causes smilie images to pop up in place of text smilies. Basically, a way to remove smilies. =)

Give this a go and see how it works.. PluginI wrote it a while back but have never released it due to some inconsistencies I couldn't counter.

Thank you very much! I added it to the site and it's working like a charm. Much appreciated, Todge =)

Todge this doesn't appear to be working on my forum. I'm not sure if it was before because there weren't many smileys around to look at but a new member just recently joined and she's used smileys a lot and I'm seeing them all over now =/ Any idea if browser or proboards updates/changes has broken the code?

As a guest, I cannot use smileys on your site. Could you post a link to one of their threads?
Also, what browser are they using?
As a fail-safe there are a couple of things you could do. One would be to use the censored words list to break all the standard smiley codes by putting an empty tag mid code, as an example, you could change :) to :).
And as another, replace all the standard smileys to 1x1px transparent .gifs, so that if they do manage to post a smiley in the conventional way, nothing would be displayed.
Using the second method would stop the codes (:)) being posted too.
