create design on new forum

now i need to create the forum . how do it get that done ?.

Hi thank you yes i am working on it. my cousin is helping. it is going slow. i would like to ask a few questions
on each category , i would like a sentence or comment to describe what the category is, can not find a place to put that?.
also , why is board on each category? how do i get rid of that?
and i would like to have rules of the forum in the format. how do i get those? or will they be put in there when it goes public
and who do i notify when i want it published. i am sure i must get someone to  review it and than post it.

Typically, most people don't put a description for categories. but you can add one right where you put the name of the category.
Maybe do like:

My Category --This category is for all games on this site.

Or if you want the description below it you can use a ubbc break to put it on a new line like so:


My Category
This category is for all games on this site.


And it would show up like this:

My Category
This category is for all games on this site.

Actually, looking at your categories, you already adding a brief description so if you want something different, please explain.

Those categories are waiting for you to add boards to them. Go add a board to one of your categories and you'll then see why it says board in each one. In the boards, you can add a description. There is a specific place for that. You have to add boards before anyone can make a thread. Once you make a board you can make a thread with your rules in it. Just like you made a thread here to post your question.

I will have to direct that to my cousin. have no clue what you mean by  adding boards, and what that means. sorry to be so non computor savvy. i am learning.  lol

I didn't explain very well. Take a look at the main page here on Support. You can see there is a category called "Tech Support". Under that category are 4 boards.

To add a board to a category go to:
Admin > Structure> Categories & Boards and then click on "create a new board". A popup will come up that give you an option which category you want to add the board. Once you tick a category click on the tab "about" and there you'll put the name of your board (that is what will show at the end of the address bar so you could link to the board if you wanted) and the display name (what shows up on the main page in that category) and then there is a part where you can add the description of the board.

Further down there are options of adding labels but you can add that later if you decide you want to use labels. (I'll explain if your interested.) There are other tabs where you can set permissions and other stuff. Once you get everything done (you can go back later to change things if needed) click "create board" and then go to your main page and you should see a new board in whatever category you selected the board to be in.

Once you have that board, you can then start to create threads like you did here when you started this topic.
