1st i opologize if i am not in the correct area/section due to many changes on support forum. Need help with either template modifications or help with a current plugin. Hi folks!, I want to know if it's possible to change most the forum into Latin-Spanish and if it is. I need help with it. I was given this plugin by Todge but recently no replies back of the updates and i need to complete the forum so me and my staff can start working on other areas. these are the codes I've been given in the past to translate areas on my forum: board|th|On This Board|En este Foro board|span|Thread|Tema board|span|Announcement|Anuncio board|span|Sticky|Pegajoso board|span|Locked|Bloqueado board|span|Hot|Caliente board|span|New|Nuevo board|span|Poll|Encuesta board|span|Bookmark|Marcador board|li|Mark Board Read|Marcar Foro Leído board|li|None|Ninguno board|li|All|Todos board|li|Read|Leído board|a|Create Thread|Crear Tema board|li|New|Nuevo boardthread|input*|Search|Buscar boardthread|a*|Next »|Próximo » boardthread|a*|« Prev|« Anterior thread|a|Mark as New|Marcar como Nuevo thread|a|Bookmark|Marcador thread|a|Share|Participación thread|a|Go to|Ir a thread|a|Moderate|Moderación thread|a|Previous Thread|Tema Anterior thread|a|Next Thread|Tema Siguiente thread|a|Make Announcement|Haga Anuncio thread|a|Sticky|Pegajoso thread|a|Lock|Bloquear thread|a|Move|Mover thread|a|Delete|Borrar thread|a|Bump|Golpear thread|a|Enable Falling|Habilitar Falling thread|a|Disable Falling|Desactivar la Caída thread|a|Entire Thread|Todo el Tema thread|a|All Posts|Todos los Mensajes And this: And this you helped me before but did not translate Actions into 'Acción'

I have no hands on experience with it but wouldn't a google translate code that you drop in your header/footer or wrapper template be a much easier solution?

Wouldn't be professional, and specially if you have to click that plugin and do it every time you visit the site. I hope proboards don't just limit the forums to be only English. This is why i ask help on the issue. And yes i have though of google translator. But why bother now having access to the template etc.. Regards, Lu

Regards, Lu Would you have a link to the thread where that plugin download you posted was discussed? Going through the templates and translating words and phrases by hand would be a better (resource-light) method but the problem lies with words and phrases that are not in the HTML itself but dynamically added through javascript or CSS content generation. The best place would be to make the translations in the js file (currently forum_65.js) perhaps served up as forum_65.spanish.js, forum_65.dutch.js, forum_65.klingon.js, etc.. This would however have to be a feature request since we have no control over that file (only Proboards does) and there would also need to be a selection mechanism either in admin panel for entire forum or as detection on a per user basis so it serves up the correct language file. There would in addition have to be updates for perhaps hundred of files instead of just one each time there is an update ( That's a lot of work!). I'm almost sure I already saw this requested and although not outright rejected it was mentioned the priority would be low in relation to the other new features being considered. I was also certain I saw something about Google Translator able to be set to automatic mode but I just looked and didn't see that option, the Bing translator however does claim this feature. I don't think censored words would be applicable here since this involves dynamically added content but one could certainly try that as well. The other option would be to do basically what Google translator does which is to make changes to words and phrases after they've been spoken/displayed and if I am not mistaken there's a plugin in the library similar to that old V4 Switchit code that should be able to accomplish this.

Anything you can come up with would be fine. So options are good I don't use google translator code cause it gets the color smear and some plugins act weird.

Would you have a link to the thread where that plugin download you posted was discussed? No, this was a request through private messages.

No, this was a request through private messages. Perhaps a solution for the fact it was via PM, could be you "forward message". So click Action > Forward, and obviously send it to Chris .... ? Edit: To add, if there is anything you don't want forwarding, the other suggestion could be to multi-quote all the messages from the PM you can share and then copy+paste into a new PM, and send.

I dont know how this is relevant since it was a private matter and I publicly provided the information needed including the plugin in the first post. If I send my private msg would only show the add code I provided and me saying help translating my forum into spanish.

Have you tried posting in the general Support board instead to see what admins have to say on options for other languages? I'm sure they have alternatives of some nature to help other languages on their forums.

Regards, Lu Well to be sure I went to Google and created a translator for a test forum making sure to set the default language to espanol rather than english when creating the translator and it appears to work flawlessly on the forum (AUTOMATICALLY TRANSLATING TO DEFAULT LANGUAGE CHOSEN WHEN CREATED) without any loss in functionality I could see. No action necessary to translate into Spanish simply load the page in your browser and it automatically happens. Signup for a Google Website TranslatorThat translation banner in the first pic can also be turned off in settings With the exception of the forum layout modification approach (which we agree won't help with dynamically built content) any client-side solution (which is what you're requesting if you want a plugin) would be doing the exact same thing Google translate is doing but with far less efficiency since unlike Google there is no private database to query, everything has to be done by tedious phrase by phrase translation. I'm really not seeing the need to reinvent the wheel here since the tool already exists.

Ok, If i say something it's because I've tested it and didn't need to waste time on posting and asking for help through private messages. I like proboards i really do. Now check my forum and test it yourself. See that it causes errors and looks awkward... gamersunitycommunity.proboards.com/
