Main forum list table customization

I'm trying to customize the table for the main page that has the lists of forums.

1.  How do you resize cells?

2. How do you add a gradient?

3. How do you change the font size of the description?

I'm trying to make the main forum table here raidernation.freemessageboards.com/  look like the one here www.raidernation.freeforums.net/index.cgi

I'm not sure why this is in Graphic Design, you'd have better luck in Templates or the main Support board.
