Hashtag in Posts [library support]

I do think I figured out a way to keep links with anchors (like the megatron link) from being parsed. so I am pushing that out now.

Hey Wormopolis, no - no - I do understand what you're saying with 'you can only do so much' ... but, I was just implying that  if - you were unable to modify the code with just a hashtag that could mirror the color of each color scheme (not necessarily a link if this was truly causing the problem without making a space after the hash) .. then I would just opt to disconnect the plugin. As far as why it's not showing .. I had changed the hashtag word to something else so it wouldn't show the who reply to the quote as a link. That said, I've placed it back so you can see here.  I really love this plugin .. but, all the same, I don't trust my members to use it correctly ... especially having to see a bunch of replied links when quoting.  #lol

I added a class to the hash links so you can target them with CSS and change their color in your theme CSS.

what happens if you dont use the exclamation point on the end of that hashtag? I think the quoting thing is making it go haywire so I might have to do more exclusive quoting tests

I'm not real sure about the CSS thing .. so, maybe I'll just wait 'til you do more exclusive quoting tests before activating again.  If you do get something a little more stable with quoting, I would love to activate this great plugin once again. You can always tag me if you Do get something that works.  I've really come to love this plugin ... especially, with me being the one that initially asked about such a thing in the first place. #believe 


Edit:  I do wonder how all of a sudden it started doing this, when it was working flawlessly 'til now.

I believe so, yes. That said and just to make sure, I went and quoted a post in another thread and it worked, however, I tried in another thread and it didn't work there.  So, idk.  Ugh .. I love this plugin so much!!! Dangit!! lol

I just quoted another thread that had a hashtag in the post and quoted that post with some general words.... "OK, sounds great" ... type of thing.

still running tests with quoting hashtags. nothing conclusive yet.

however I would like to announce that now with the recent developer push of being able to add multiple entries into a key with a single push, I can NOW finally make hashcloud work without having to run a loop on every single new word in a post. which was what was keeping it from being allowed before because it was trying to do an AJAX call of evey word and Patrick popped a blood vessel. so thank you Tim Camara for filling that request. I should be able to get hashcloud out this weekend.

hashcloud: as new hashtags are created on the board, the plugin will keep track of how many instances of the same word occur. words with more then 1 instance will have a higher priority then words with fewer, and you can create a spot on your board that displays the top X number of tags. you can even have it change the font size for the higher occuring words so they have a large font size in the cloud then the words with fewer hits. doing some sexy math stuff also makes it where newer words will eventually replace older words if they havent had a new hit in a while to keep things more dynamic.

Thanks for taking the time to look into the quote issue, Worm. I do appreciate it. This is such a key feature for us at M3L that it would be sorely missed - that's for sure. As for the rest of your post, that sounds awesome!

Ah, I get what you guys meant earlier. Even though the link was embedded and not placed "out in the open" in the post, the plugin still read the hash in the embedded link and tried to create a tag for it.

Anyways, good to see a fix may be in progress. Maybe the hashcloud will help out in the long run. The plugin's still trying to convert the hashes in the embedded links in the meantime, though.

BTW, do hashtags read every thread and post with the tagged word(s), or would one have to type in the same hashtag for every post/thread they want the tag to link to?

As far as I'm aware, the plugin, when you click on your hashtags, will only search for posts in which said hashtags were put because it searches for [HASH]yourtag and not simply 'yourtag'.

Do you know if the post was posted by using the reply button or was it posted with the keyboard shortcut (I believe it is alt+c)?

I've posted before using the keyboard shortcut and I noticed that hashtags don't parse that way, you really need to click the reply button.
