One more question. Someone tried to post a link on my forum. http://www.politico.com/story/2014/07/rand-paul-foreign-policy-108897.htm #ixzz37XjPcL00
The link contains # within it. So the plugin split the link into whatever was before it and then a #ixzz37XjPcL00 after it. Any way of preventing that? Edit: Looks like Proboards doesn't like URLs with # symbols in it anyway. this link? www.politico.com/story/2014/07/rand-paul-foreign-policy-108897.html#ixzz37XjPcL00

Hey, Wormopolis, I've noticed a very minimal issue. When I wrist my post, I tend to hit tab and then space to send the post, I do this on every forum I use, but I realized a couple of weeks back (not sure if it was happening before) that it no longer worked, hitting tab just didn't move me from the writing area to the reply button. So I open up my admin panel, uncheck my four plugins, recheck them one by one, checking my other window, tab+space works on all of them until I get to the hashtag. Okay, all right. Just to be sure I uncheck everything but the hashtag, same issue occurs. So somehow the plugin seems to render the tab function useless, after about a dozen of them (after going through my whole menu) it gets to the reply button but that's about it. It's not monumental since I can just scroll to it and click it but I figured I'd bring it up. TL;DR -- : plugin seems to disable the use of the 'tab' key to move from post area to reply button.

Hello, there. I have a question about the hashtag plugin, and I figured this might be the best place to ask instead of randomly making a thread in support. We've recently installed the plugin to our forum. I already knew that it would take a few days for it to index so that it would work with the search engine. Now the hashtags seems to work just fine with searches. The problem now, however, is that this plugin apparently doesn't agree with embeds. It seems that many embeds created in threads have started going haywire since the plugin's installation. For example, this profile thread: electricferret.freeforums.net/thread/233/megatronNear the bottom of the profile's paragraph, the words "villainous character" were originally embedded with a link to Beast Wars' Megatron, but since the hashtag plugin's installation, a hashtag for Beast Wars suddenly popped up and broke up the link I had embedded, as you can see. Any ideas on this? Thanks ahead of time.

Well because it has the pound sign in it so it's trying to convert it to a hashtag. This is why I was trying to keep it where you needed a space before and after a hashtag of it would ignore it but somewhere along the lines someone didn't want the spaces.
I'm going to have to write it to only hash words that have spaces before and after

I can handle space before and after but won't that mean it'll need double-space between? Would it be possible to essentially have just a space before? That might work out as most sub-links with dashes aren't supposed to have spaces?

It had something to do with how HTML was being rendered. So I told it to leave stuff in there unless it was possibly a hex color
I just have to sit down and figure out a better regexp.
In the mean time, you might just leave the locator part off those urls or disable the plugin until I can. I don't currently have a laptop with me though

This is why I was trying to keep it where you needed a space before and after a hashtag of it would ignore it but somewhere along the lines someone didn't want the spaces. Not really what I meant. What I'm trying to say is that before the hashtag plugin was installed, the last line of the paragraph in that profile originally looked like this: Within the fiction, he is often said to have named himself after the legendary Megatronus, and similarly inspired the name of a later villainous character.I'm underlining the words "villainous character" here because I had originally embedded them with a Wiki link discussing Beast Wars' Megatron. After installing the plugin, though, the line suddenly turned into this: Within the fiction, he is often said to have named himself after the legendary Megatronus, and similarly inspired the name of a later #Beast_Wars">villainous character. The Beast Wars hashtag, the quote mark, and the > arrow appeared out of nowhere and the section I've underlined here became embedded with a broken version of that link to Beast Wars' Megatron.

Because you have the pound sign in there and the first space, after villainous, leads the plugin to believe that '#Beast_Wars">villainous' is meant to be a hashtag. Why it's turning ] to > is beyond me though.
The plugin checks for the pound sign, used for the hashtag, through the whole of the BBCode, so if you have links in which you have the pound sign, the plugin will make a grab for them, is how I understand this works.

Correct. And I can't do anything about it until I get back to Los Angeles. The two options I stated are what you currently have.

Hey Wormopolis, all of a sudden the plugin is causing those that post a message to have it end up as an entire link .. this, after quoting in the thread. If you'll notice in this thread here, about 5 posts down .. Stodds13's post .. has his entire message posted as a link. I disabled the plugin and everything was fine with quotes in the thread. That said, I've left the plugin active for you to assess the issue. Weird, that it started doing this all of a sudden. Any thoughts? Thanks so much.

You might want to see if adding a space after that hashtag and before the closing quote tag might help.

Padding spaces should help. And apparently are going to be required

What do you mean padding spaces, Wormopolis? Is that something you do within the plugin itself or those that post? If you're saying those that post need to put some spaces after their hashtag -- I'll more than likely remove the plugin. If it's something you can do in terms of modifying the plugin for this to happen, then I'll certainly keep the plugin. I can't trust my members they'll remember to pad spaces if I'm understanding you correctly .. because the link look right now looks terrible. :/ Was brainstorming earlier: Is there a way to just make the hashtag and word used -- to match the color scheme of the forum, not necessarily a link? The visual of just having the hashtag/word fitting the color scheme of the forum would work just as well -- this of course, if it's a problem with the way the plugin is currently coded.

That post currently doesnt show the entire post as a link. did you change something? The hashes have to have a way to know if something is supposed to be part of the hash or not. you cant do #thisshouldbeahashLOL and not have the LOL as part of the hash. hashes already have to have something like a space or non letter character after them to know when to stop.
it could be the end of the quote field wasnt being parsed. but during testing I cant recreate whatever you were seeing without knowing what was originally there.
if you choose to not use the plugin, then thats fine. I can only do so much.
