Image with text Hover for main page board descriptions

Hi there,
So far I have not been able to find a code that will work to make its so that when on the main board page there are only images showing for some of the boards but if you were to hover your mouse over them they would fade to text to give you the needed information. 
I have seen it done with other sites such as with mybb and jcinx. 
This site here has the example in which I am hoping to achieve: helovia.net/index.php

My site is cavallo-v2.boards.net/ and I am in the process of applying a new layout.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could try and help me out with this. The plugin that was designed for this I cannot get to work and the creator seems to be on a long break and not responding to any messages. Please if anyone can help me out that would be great.

Hi Nickel,

It appears you've posted a few other places trying to get this to happen for you. I have no idea how to build plug-ins (not javascript/jquery savvy) like that but I'll think about if there is another way but no promises I'll come up with a solution.

Couple questions.
Will you use a different image in each board that has this? My guess is yes.
Will everything else be gone (new/old icon and threads/posts/etc) when the picture is there and when on hover will just the description appear?

I've not tried that plug in. but it sounds like even ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ isn't having luck with it or has come up with a work around it using jquery or something. So if he can't, my hopes aren't high I can either. But I will think about it. 

I wanted to reply to your thread so you'd know you aren't being overlooked but rather some of us don't know how exactly to achieve it. I'll just leave this thread here (for now) since you already have posted about this in other areas. This board is now for those who are still hanging on to their V4.5 forums but I'll leave it here while I give it some thought and then decide what to do with your thread (move it to templates or just have you keep bumping in plugins/your other thread).

Yeah I haven't had luck with the board description image plugin yet, just to chime in since I was tagged by the lovely Tumbleweed. While I assume it doesn't work now due to drastic template changes, it didn't work prior to them either, and I've put in the default templates to attempt to replicate the necessary variables with still no luck. I'm not sure if it's a plugin failure or a conflict on my site, seeing as other members have the plugin working perfectly for them. I suppose we'll see if it can be rectified once Peter returns from his hiatus or an alternative is given through other means. Wormo seems like he might be willing to adapt the Presto plugin to work for board descriptions, which would mimic the functionality perfectly and would definitely provide the feature to people who can't get the Board Description plugin to work, so I suggest keeping an eye on that, Nickel. =)

I would be wanting to use a different code for each board yes, and when the picture is there only the description will be covered. On hover the image would fade to reveal the text describing whatever you wanted.

I had no problems doing something similar this V4.5 ProBoards. In fact, here is one I still havent converted:  putteraround2.proboards.com/ It's not the whole width like you want but I could have easily done that on V4. 
But it is a whole different ball game with V5. I'm still trying to think of a way to do this because as I said, me and plug-ins are a no go. I have some ideas to try so when I have a bit more time then a few minutes I'll see if my ideas are duds or not.

More questions:
Will you have yet different images on different themes? (If that is the case, I know I can't help you.)
Will it be all your boards or just a few? If just a few will they all be in one category or are we talking one here in this category and one there in that category? I ask because putting one board with an image in the middle of others is going to be more difficult. Putting them in one category only would be easiest or at least putting them at the end of other non-imaged boards. Hope I explained that so you get what I'm saying.

I just like as much info as I can get because I hate getting something to work and then the person wants a change and it sometimes means I have to start from scratch.

I would be wanting the same images for all themes, unless of course I change the images manually. Each board would have a different image for it though, so not all would be same image.
It would not be used for all boards but likely for at least 2-3 categories.
So possibly something like if I had 5 categories, first one may be normal, second-fourth with image hover, fifth would be normal with no hover.

I messed with this on and off yesterday and tried everything I can think of to get this to work and no luck. The last thing I tried was to create "fake boards" that would link to the real boards. But I had nothing to target that would put those fake boards under the category I wanted. In order to attach the fake boards to something I had to create a real board and the fake boards worked great but then I was stuck with one real board. Hiding the board made my fake boards disappear. The problem is the categories don't have a class or id. They have an a-name. So I've pretty much given up for now. Not knowing javascript or even jquery that well makes this endeavor very amateurish and clumsy and I'm pretty much thinking impossible for me. But like most things, I hate not being able to figure them out so if I see no one has created a good plug-in for this I may look at it again. For now, I have run out of ideas. I'm sorry, I tried.
