Registration Captcha?

I have no idea how to make plugins, and I haven't been able to find the one that I actually need...

I am creating a forum for In Character interactions for a Live Action Roleplaying Game that I run, so they can continue to play in between games. I don't want the boards to be interrupted by Spam Bots, but I also don't have a list of the email addresses of the players in my game, so reviewing them when they register, before allowing them to join, takes awhile. 

Is there anybody willing to create a plugin for me that would provide a captcha upon registration?

if you set the board to limited registration, you have to approve all accounts before they are allowed to post

Yes, but then I also have to know all the email addresses of my players, and we don't have that in our game database. :/ Otherwise, it's mostly guesswork, which is what I'm doing now. Everytime someone registers, I have to hunt the player with that email address down and it takes awhile. I'm wanting this to be a long-term forum, so that would just make it easier.
