Hello everybody, I'm new to Proboards.
Do we have some kind of notification when a post gets edited after its creation ? I've seen the "Last edit" message at the bottom of the post but we need to go to the post to see that it has been edited. This is a problem for moderators for example.
Thanks for your help.

You don't receive a Notification when edits are made, just the Last Edit note at the bottom right and a possible, optional "reason" for that Last Edit. You could make this a Feature Request, though =) An admin will be on during their office hours and will respond then

This would generate a HUGE number of notifications. People edit for any number of reasons - spelling, grammar, clarity, etc. You can always check the security log - either "all logs", or "post logs > edits" if you really need to know.

Marked this as a feature request. See what the staff say

Thanks all for your replies. The security logs might do but it would be great to have a Notification option for edited posts (maybe off by default). This would be a great feature for moderators. cheers

Out of curiosity, why do you think it would be useful? I don't need to know when anyone edits, so I'm always interested in other people's reasons.

I think this is a great idea. People edit their posts sometimes and add more detail, etc and I've only noticed some of them days/weeks later.

moonbeam - People can't see that threads/posts have been updated at a glance - threads don't even get bumped when posts are edited.
But most importantly, moderators cannot see these changes without going through all the posts again. While a little "tedious", security log is a solution as you stated but apparently moderators (not global) do not have access to security log.
An "edited" icon would be useful on boards and threads - The latter could get bumped too.

A few ideas about this:
1) When you go to Edit Profile > notifications, you get to checkbox what you get notifications about. If someone doesn't want edit notifications, then they could uncheck it.
2) When do you get a notification? when they edit a post that's in a thread you partook in? when it's a post you were tagged or quoted in? or literally every edit on every post? If anything, I could see this being for bookmarked threads, because then you are willingly watching those threads.
3) It could be that you only get the notification if it was edited after a certain amount of time (like five minutes) or perhaps it could be like DeviantArt.com where, when you go to edit a post, you either check or uncheck a box to release the notification. If it's a trivial edit, you can uncheck it and no notification is set, but if it's a major update then you check it and the notification is sent. Or, alternatively, the "bump" and "edit" icon that you suggested.
To me, this would be a complex addition to the site that would either require V5.X most likely or perhaps making this possible to become a plugin instead (so admins get to CHOOSE if they want this) would be useful.

Just posting to confirm that if someone wants to get a look at what posts have recently been edited, they can go to Admin > Security Log > Post Logs > Edits - if you believe you'll be checking this page often to get an idea of what's been updated with new information, you can always bookmark this section in your browser.
Beyond that, not everyone who edits their posts necessarily wants attention drawn to it - more often than not you'll find that all that's taken place is a typo correction.

I guess notifications should be sent on every edit (in fact just like on any new post => not a difficult addition) and yes maybe after a certain amount of time.
In a moderator point of view, it's not a good idea to give the author the ability to send the notification or not.

David Clark - It's really about a moderator point of view, security log not available and quite tedious to bookmark every single thread.

Other than editing to add further info, as mentioned by Baller95, I still don't know why I would need to know about edits though. What are some other reasons?
