Side Bar

Yo, Dark/Xel here.

I have been confused lately. Some of the RP Forums I go to have Side Bars, like some say Welcome, or other discuss the plot synopsis. I want to have a sidebar, but I don't know the code, and I don't know the correct place to put it, if it requires a specific place.

If you go to Plugins here on Support, you can find the Sidebar Redux Plugin in the Library Plugin sub-board, it's probably your best bet to go with ^^

Its kinda confusing me, like I get the downloading thing, but its telling me all these customization things thats confusing, and I don't wanna do something wrong.

Well then, I can try and give an example. swrponline2.proboards.com/ is one of the RP sites i'm on. It has that sidebar saying Welcome, and such. I want a sidebar like that.

Well, first go to Admin > Plugins > Plugin Library and find Sidebar Redux Plugin. Click on it. From there, at the top right, click Install on Forum. Once that's done, go to the Plugin (if it doesn't take you there automatically, it's Admin > Plugins > Manage > Sidebar Redux) and click on the tab Left.

Once there, that's where you're going to add all the text for your sidetables. Play around with the settings for the Plugin to find what you like. There's a lot of helpful information in the Support thread for that Plugin that you should read through as well

All they did was put the name of the rank and then link to the users. So:

Administrator:<br>
- <a href="LINK TO PROFILE">NAME</a><br>
Global Moderators:<br>
- <a href="LINK TO PROFILE">NAME</a><br>
Moderators:<br>
- <a href="LINK TO PROFILE">NAME</a>

filling in the links to profiles and the names

Apparently, <br> is like Enter.

Yep! =) For each <br> it'll make a line-break and without the <br> it won't have one, so you can use actual Enters in the coding for organization (I make a lot of space to separate things and make it easier on myself) and it won't affect the display!

Do you have the sidebars how you want them now?

Yep. It looks pretty good, i'm wondering how my friend BetaWolf is going to react to the new changes. Its about time my site got some major improvements, rather than minor ones. I might experiment with some other Plugins as well. I might need them.

Good idea! The plugins are a great way to customize and amp up your site, some of them are pretty dang cool, and a lot easier to customize than the previous V4 header/footer codes! =)
