Is it possible to have an image in a header or a footer that floats right or left?

It floats left by default.
To make it 'float left,' if for some reason it's not doing it automatically, change the coding to:
<img style="float: left;" src="YOUR IMG URL"> and to 'float right,' same thing but change LEFT to RIGHT in the above code

Well, they don't float left by default, they're aligned left by default. Floating and aligning are two different things. An image that's aligned left will appear on the left side of the area it's displayed in, with other content continuing on after it. An image that's floated left will appear on the left side of the area it's displayed in, with other content flowing around the side of it. That said, ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪'s code will work correctly to float an image.

My previous floating attempts led to my image of a morning glory floating on top-on the left. My code did not have width and height.
I am saying," thank you" in advance for everybody's help.
I understand there are multiple ways of writing image codes. Let's say I use:<img=" www.fakepic.gif"> What would be the correct code for floating and aligning right or center? When an image floats next to or on top or on the bottom doesn't it automatically align under or above the other row or object?

I really don't understand your question but I just told you how to make it float right or left. Please explain what else you are asking more clearly

I did not understand that. When an image floats, isn't by default going to be aligned(in the correct position)?

To align it without floating it:
<img src="YOUR_IMAGE_URL" style="text-align: left;" /> In general, yes, floating an image will also give it the correct alignment. However, there is an important distinction between floating and aligning, namely, the way other content interacts with the floated/aligned element.

Here's an example: jsfiddle.net/pZL3p/The first one is floated left, the second one is aligned left.
