I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, or if I'm missing something obvious... I just now seemed to realize that Proboards forces its members to 'choose' a gender - is there a way to...get around this? {Ie, not everyone identifies with a gender, and not everyone wants such information on the internet}. Is there a way to either...: A. Disable this option. B. Allow the user to 'opt out'. (Decide not to have their gender shown). C. Add 'Unknown' to the gender picker? Thank you.

An admin made me a code to hide it and then I made my own options via custom profile fields. However, even with the default hidden, it wouldn't let you edit your profile unless you 'picked a gender' so I had to make it visible again so people can edit their profiles. I just made a note in Edit Profile to ignore the gender default and use the custom profile field and then I removed the default gender code from anywhere on the site and put solely my custom profile field version

Ish. You can set your gender to be hidden in your global account settings, if I recall. There is no opting out or adding options to the default gender picker, though you can hide the field in the profile & mini profile templates to get rid of them globally AND/OR add your own gender drop down via custom profile fields.
The latter option will not replace the default proboards requirement and it still must be completed.

I run a forum that has some members with non-binary genders. Unfortunately, despite a feature request, ProBoards still forces a Male/Female selection when registering. You can however, with the custom profile fields feature and the template editing feature, hide the system default gender and add your own with more options. This doesn't get around a binary selection at registration, but it does allow members to provide a different gender on their profile.
