Is it possible to turn off the left hand thread icon column?

Since the NEW indicator and LOCK indicator also appear right next to the thread title text, I am wondering if the thread icon column with the folders, etc, can be turned off?

If by "turn off" you mean hide, then this is an easy way to hide them from the thread listings, just add this to the top of your Theme > Advanced Styles & CSS > Stylesheet

You can adjust the 45% to make the main thread column bigger or smaller.

/* remove thread folders */
.container.threads .icon { display: none; }
.container.threads .main { width: 45%; }

Weird thing is, doing that also takes away the drop down arrow on the menus.

Not a deal breaker for me though.

Whoops, didn't realize the arrows were icons too!

Try replacing it with this:

/* remove thread folders */
.container.threads table tr td.icon,
.container.threads table thead th.icon { display: none; }
.container.threads .main { width: 45%; }
I might need a link to your forum's URL if that doesn't work, it depends on how your layout template is set up
