Hello, I was poking around to see if there was any way to implement a Gmail/Facebook-style live chat module into my forum. I came across this article: anantgarg.com/2009/05/13/gmail-facebook-style-jquery-chat/I'm downright terrible at JavaScript and jQuery, but it seems as though this (or something like it) could work with ProBoards forums. Is this particular module compatible with v5 and, if so, how could I implement it? It seems as though we'd be able to use this module with the "Users Online" portion in ProBoards code, but I'm unsure. Can anyone possibly shed some light on this? Thanks!

To use that particular script, you would need access to a MySQL database on a server somewhere. If you're just looking for a live chat, your forum comes with a shoutbox that has very similar functionality. If you want something with more or different features, there are plenty of hosted addon chats out there that don't require coding or server access on your part.

I'm currently using a shoutbox on my forum, I just liked the idea of instant messaging; since my forum is related to online gaming, I thought it would serve well to be able to instantly message a single person to set up a match, etc. I realize PMs can do this as well, but I just liked the idea of instantaneous messaging. Thanks!
