@xsteveuk/ Maude Fealy: I've submitted version 1.1.0 to the library. This will fix the plugin not working in IE8 and below as well as make https:// links convert. In addition I've added the option to resize all automatically embedded images to either preset thumbnail sizes or the maximum dimensions of your choice.

It should work great with those additional features. In the meantime, I had to remove it from my forum. Some of our members only have the most basic of skills and this http vs https thing would only have served to confuse them. Kind of OT, but is there a limit to the number of plugins we can install on a forum?

Thanks. We have lots of room left. For now.
Do you have an ETA on the enhanced plugin?

This is exciting and will make life easier for forum members panicked by technology. Thanks very much Brian for all the hard work. Fast, too!

I just installed it and tested, so have some questions.
It's installed with no changes, just as offered with everything except .bmp activated and no automatic resizing.
Preview doesn't work with this -- no way to see the post with the pictures before posting.
Also, how to keep a photo link as just a link? Putting in the link using the url tags still makes it appear as an image.
Thanks for any help.

If the link's display text is a URL it will auto link, causing that to happen. Example: The image URL will auto link, and since a link cannot be contained within another link per HTML standards the browser renders it like this: After that, the plugin goes through all the links on the page and decides that if both the link's href attribute and its text contain the same image URL it will replace the link's display text with image tags. Thus, it finally renders as: The plugin is not meant to be workaround to stop using [img] tags altogether. There are still some instances involving the use of multiple BBCode tags in which you'll need to use them. This would work fine and output the image as a clickable link as you intended:

This is only meant to retroactively change links during page load.

Brian, thanks!
Just tried what you said -- putting the url for the image in the URL part of the Link window, then either writing some text in the text portion or letting it default to "link".
Works perfectly!
Thank you again. Preview thing isn't a problem, I just thought I was doing something wrong.
