Problem with New PM Alert Plugin

Every time I see it, I click on the "click here" button, thinking that will solve it -- and the message DOES "go away" when I click the button...but then when I get a new PM from someone, the message comes back again.
Any ideas?

New PM Alert
Version 2.0.4 Release
Alerts members when they have a new pm.
