Hey guys. Is this possible? Limiting each member to one post per thread? I have specific reason for this.

Providing you don't have too many members, yes. The biggest problem would be isolating the thread(s).
Will all the restricted threads be in a board of their own?

I'm not sure I know what you are talking about. :/ I don't think they will be their own board. I am making a competitive forum where we post challenges and people reply and get points for their post. But I didn't want them to be able to post more than once and fudge their score. For the time being, we will just erase posts that aren't directly related to answering the thread. But I was wondering if I could get a plug-in that would restrict posting to just once per thread to keep score. Either that, or a karma system that we could click to give them props for doing the challenge. I have already talked to the creator of that and it didn't really fit our purposes. Any other suggestions?

I would think a threadkey that stored the ids of every poster would work. the bigger issue will be race conditions if two people post at the same time and the second one overwrites the key of the first.
but once an id is stored, it could be checked to prevent any more posting by removing buttons or disabling post editor.

That's exactly the way I was thinking too. The only real problem I can see is how do you know which threads to target? If they are not going to have their own board, then it's going to be difficult to know which new threads need to be restricted. The only way I can think of is if the creator puts an asterisk, or something similar, in the title for the code to locate.

or make it like a checkbox option on the post editor (when its a new thread) that designates the thread as a "once-reply" by creating the key only on thread create. if a thread is created without the checkbox checked, and therefore the key created, the thread is open posting.
I would even make it where it only shows that checkbox on a create and not an edit. otherwise you have to put in stuff to make it editable key data for anyone who might have posted before it was changed.

Good idea, it never even crossed my mind to have an option in the thread creation page. I'll try to make a start during the week.

Hi Todge. I'm not sure but I don't think this plug in is working. I have tried it a couple of different ways and was able to not only post multiple times but I was also able to go back and edit a previous post and change what was posted. The only person that seemed to get limited was the thread creator. me.

Bump every few days or so and I'll take a look as soon as I can.

I installed the plug in at my test site earlier tonight so we can test it there when you are ready. truebluelibertytest2.proboards.com/
