post timers

I need a timer for posts where after a minute or two the post automatically creates the post.
That is if anything is on the post otherwise it just closes automatically.
Is this possible?

It's for a timed question game. I want to limit the time to answer the question.

like they hit reply, then it gives them 5 minutes to write a message, and at the end of 5 minutes it submits the form irregardless of what they have answered?

THAT might need a red name to approve on before a plugin/code could be written.

It should be fine, so long as there's a minimum amount of time set (ie. 3 minutes minimum, since I would assume the plugin would allow for varying time limits?). The main reason this kind of plugin may pose as a problem is because of possible unfairness to advertisers; so if the post were to be made too quickly it doesn't have a member enough time to review an ad on the page. But adding a minimum of 3 minutes rule to post should allow for enough time

ok. I have this done, except I noticed a problem. if they wait out the timer, without putting anything into the thread, it tries to submit, but as you know, it wont let you submit an empty post. so it puts the alert down there that says "There must be a message" and basically stops the timing system. if they have entered anything however, it submits it at the end of timer like you are wantning. I also had it hide quick reply because basically there isnt really a good way to set a timer on a quick reply when it sits on the display page.

what do you want to happen if they wait out the timer?
