Go Admin - Layout Templates - Thread List And look for $[thread.labels] And on the same line Before $[thread.labels]
Add All The Code below!
$[thread.replies] <font color="#c73f17">Participants - </font> So it will look like

The font colour is currently red You can change the font colour So when viewing the thread list it will look like Screen shotsClicking on the number (3) Participants You will be able to view the participants who replied the thread

Looks like the number reflects the number of posts and not the number of unique participants. Cool mod though

It works the same way as when view a board and on replies you click on the number It will show the participants and the number of times they have replied that thread.
