This is based on the character map that ships with windows and was made for those of us who have trouble remembering alt codes for symbols and special characters not found on the keyboard. It displays only characters or a range of characters defined by the forum admin or qualified staff in the plugin settings in order to avoid searching through hundreds of characters just to type one single glyph.

Updates
- Feb. 22, 2014 [v0.0.6]
- Added Unicode entry field
- Added a drop down menu to choose a range when multiple sub-ranges are specified in settings
- Added tooltip help for various fields
- Feb. 19, 2014 [v0.0.5]
- Changed default character click action to insert rather than magnify. Holding CTRL while clicking will now open magnified view
- Feb. 18, 2014 [v0.0.4]
- Added ability to incorporate installed Google web fonts as well as specify a default font to use when the character map dialog opens.
- Feb. 16, 2014 [v0.0.3]
- Enforced having only one magnified character opened at any given time.
- Feb. 16, 2014 [v0.0.2]
- Added status key shortcuts:
holding ctrl key while clicking a character will bypass magnify phase and enter value directly into insertion box. If alt is also pressed along with ctrl while clicking then character will be automatically inserted into post and dialog closed.
Changed in a later revision: normal click adds character to insertion box and holding CTRL instead opens up a magnified view. As before, holding ALT while clicking (CTRL not necessary) will insert into post and close dialog
- Added status key shortcuts:
Usage: click the Special Characters button (next to smiley button in above pic) to open the insertion dialog then select the characters you wish to use by clicking on them. When done click the insert special characters button to insert the chosen characters into the post. You also have the option to hold the ALT when clicking to insert immediately into the post. If you hold CTRL while clicking on a character then a magnified view of the character will open.
If you've installed a special webfont from Google to display special characters then this page is where you tell the plugin to load that font. Here you may also specify an alternate image for the button that appears in the formatting bar.
There are two ways to add characters and symbols, the easiest is to paste the characters you wish your members to have access to on this page
The second way to add characters and symbols for your members to use is to specify a range using the Unicode numbers
